Terms and Conditions

(b) INSURANCE

Lord Gray has full Private Hire insurance for the purposes of the business as well as Public Liability cover. He is also licensed by the local council as a private hire driver. While every effort is made by us to ensure the safety and comfort of clients while in transit and when visiting sites during the tours, clients are asked to observe rules / regulations posted at any individual site.

(c) CHARGES & RATES

Current rates for all Lord Gray's tour services are available on request. Full-day or half-day tours are charged at an hourly rate. Rates for longer itineraries may differ and will include a booking fee for assistance with accommodation, ferry tickets etc.

In the event of unscheduled or long delays to flights, for example, Lord Gray reserves the right to levy an additional charge based on the current hourly rate. Admission to historic houses, gardens or other visitor sites is charged at concessionary rates where granted to Lord Gray and otherwise at the advertised prices.

(d) PAYMENT

Payment for tours is made either direct to Lord Gray (or where agreed via the clients’ hotel for a day trip). A deposit is normally required to confirm a tour booking. The deposit amount, usually around 10% of the total cost for the trip, will then be deducted when the balance is paid. If a balance is due for a day trip this can be paid on the day.  For extended tours, the full balance will generally fall due within the last month before the start of the trip. Payment can be by cash for day tours. Secure debit/credit card payments can be made via Paypal and BACS / bank transfer payments are equally acceptable. Please note that a small charge is levied for the convenience of online / card payments, covering fees due to Paypal. Bank transfers, in particular those from outside the UK, will also incur transaction / currency conversion charges and most banks will levy charges on both payer and payee.

(e) CANCELLATIONS

(i)  Local / Day Tours : In the event of tours being cancelled with less than 2 week’s notice, when these have been booked in advance with Lord Gray, the deposit for the full trip will be retained by Tour Scotland with Lord Gray.

(ii) Extended Tours : A deposit will normally be due once the tour arrangements have been agreed on; the deposit will be a sum of around 10% of the total quoted for Lord Gray's services. In the event of such trips being cancelled 6 weeks or more in advance of the start date the deposit only will be retained. In the case of such trips being cancelled less than a month before the start date then Lord Gray reserves the right to charge & invoice clients for 50% of the total cost for the full tour. The total amount ( i.e.  100% ) due for the full tour will be chargeable in the event of a cancellation within 14 days of the start of the tour.
